Descriptions

The Forestry Commission wishes to commission an analysis of the social and environmental benefits of the Woodland Carbon Code (WCC), and to identify a replicable set of methods and metrics to enable future analyses. Specific objectives of the study are to: •Review relevant studies which could inform the approach to be taken; •Review documentation on existing WCC projects (e.g. contained on the Markit registry); •Identify the types of benefits that could be linked to these projects, and metrics that could be used to assess them; •Use evidence from WCC project documentation and other sources (e.g. forest economic valuation studies) to assess the actual and potential benefits of WCC projects; and, •Consider how the wider benefits of the WCC could be assessed in a cost-effective way in future.
