The IMPACT Operation (College of Engineering, Swansea University at Bay campus) require a sputtering coating system which will be capable of depositing high quality transparent conductive oxides (TCOs) to produce solar cells up to 5 cm x 5 cm. The coater must be capable of depositing TCOs films onto both rigid and flexible substrates at high vacuum condition. This equipment is essential to deposit highly transparent and conductive electrodes for efficient solar cell devices. This equipment will allow development of small photovoltaic prototypes achieved via scalable printing routes in order to prove materials and processes prior to implementation on a larger scale pilot line.
