Tender for the design, fabrication, delivery, commissioning of bulk bays, sorting facility and baler

Descriptions

Powys County Council’s (The Council) Waste and Recycling Service (WRS) has recently implemented a change to a three weekly kerbside collection service which has increased recycling rates. Weight data recorded between 2010/11 – 2014/15 shows an increase of some 10,000 tonnes. There are approximately 65,000 residential properties within Powys with a population of 133,000 residents. Approximately 65,000 tonnes of waste & recycling are produced annually.Typically recycling is tipped at various Powys owned transfer stations and hauled to various processing plants throughout the UK and Europe. Powys County Council faces significant logistical challenges due to the County’s unique geography and the haulage of lightweight voluminous materials is having a significant impact on transportation costs for the authority. Therefore maximising payload capacity on vehicles destined for processing will reduced vehicle movements and transportation costs significantly.
