NHS North Central London, Islington public health are seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified organisation(s) with the relevant capacity, skills, expertise and experience to promote, manage, deliver and evaluate weight management services to overweight and obese children, young people (4-17 years) and their families in the London Borough of Islington.The service will be easy to access, and improve participant's skills, knowledge and confidence in healthy eating, and physical activity, resulting in the prevention of further weight gain, and maintenance of long term weight loss. The service will be multi-component and inline with national guidelines.The contract will consist of two separate Lots:Lot 1: Community based multi-component tier 2 service for overweight and obese children, young people (4-17 years) and their families.Lot 2: Community based specialist multi-component tier 3 service for overweight and obese children and young people (4-17 years) with comorbidities (such as hypertension, hyperinsulinaemia, dyslipidaemia, type II diabetes, psychosocial dysfunction and exacerbation of conditions such as asthma) or complex needs (for example, learning or educational difficulties) and obese children and young people who have been unsuccessful at tier 2 following six month post programme follow up assessment, and their families.Current statusCurrently tier 2 multi-component weight management programmes exists for overweight and obese children aged between 7-11 years and their families, and a holiday “club” based programme for young people (11-17 years). A specialist tier 3 service exists for children and young people (2-17 years) with complex needs. The commissioned service(s) will support the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) and the children and young people obesity care pathway.
