20 Farm biodiversity enhancement plans

Descriptions

Clare Local Development Company (CLDC) are inviting written tenders from competent individuals, companies or consortia with expertise in ecology and associated areas to provide one-to-one bespoke training to twenty landowners across Co. Clare to enhance the biodiversity on their farms. The training will include surveying and mapping of each farm and developing an overall farm biodiversity enhancement plan. This will seek to increase the farm’s biodiversity through habitat protection, habitat creation, connecting habitats and increasing percentage habitat cover and diversity. The farmer/landowner will receive bespoke one to one training in how to implement all aspects of the plan during the initial and follow up farm visits. Each plan will include a measurement of the potential amount of carbon that could be sequestered on full implementation. The trainer will show each participant farmer the methodology and rationale behind the calculations which will enable them to attain a greater understanding as to how their farm could help deliver national targets on climate change and carbon sequestration. The consultants will be required to research, scope and comply with applicable legislation, policy, standards and guidelines. The training will be delivered with specific reference to the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan and County Clare biodiversity strategy.
