The University of Portsmouth wish to construct a Future Technology Centre to provide exciting and innovative opportunities within Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics. This will enable a new curriculum to be taught centred around problem based learning utilising the very best in technology. The facility will provide for up to 300 students.The building is to link to the existing Portland Building to the north east corner and is to be constructed with in situ reinforced concrete. The new facility will comprise of 5 floors including a mezzanine at 4th floor level. The approximate floor area of the new building is 1 500 m2. The estimated cost is 4 400 000 GBP. The building is required to attain BREEAM Excellent.The currently appointed design team has secured planning consent and has developed the design to RIBA Stage E.
