190606 - HD28 Pavement Resurfacing and Category B defect Repair 2019
Descriptions
The HD28 locations above are sites on the National Road network which have been identified by TII surveys for having poor skid resistance. It is the recommendation of TII that these sites be resurfaced. The purpose of the eight HD28 schemes is to remove the existing surface at these locations and resurface to increase skid resistance. The works will include: milling/planing out of existing surfaces, disposal of waste to correct licensed facility and relaying new surface.Kerry County Council’s area engineers also carry out defect surveys of national road networks within their areas. All defects with repair cost estimations of between €50,000 - €200,000 are logged as “Category B” defects. Repair works at 1 of these “Category B” defects has been funded by TII for completion in 2019. The works will include, milling/planing out of existing surfaces, excavation of failed sub-base layers, disposal of waste to correct licensed facilities, laying geo-grid where necessary, laying sub-base layers and reinstating road structure and surface.
