10 month contract for Biochemist in nanotechnology
Descriptions
Nanotether Discovery Sciences (NDS) Ltd is a Biotechnology company that is developing high throughput quantitative biochemical assays for the pharmaceutical industry. The core of the technology is based on the use of nano-scale tethers to generate high concentrations of biomolecules from very low masses of material. Nanotether is a broadly applicable platform technology that will initially be developed as a tool for the discovery of protein kinase inhibitors. The company has secured venture capital funding and is currently located in Cardiff University, Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales, UK.NDS is now recruiting a Biochemist. The challenge for the holder of the Biologist position will be to develop protein kinase assays in an array format using Nanotether technology. The approach will require a flexible approach and the ability to interact with Chemists, Physicists and Engineers. The Biologist will work in a dynamic area of protein kinase biochemistry to deliver a series of technical goals with tight deadlines. The Biologist will help implement NDS Ltd’s biology development program that will take advanced proof-of-concept demonstrations through to the delivery of commercial product. At the scientific level, the work will involve use of cutting edge chemical biology and array techniques at the interface of synthetic biology, protein biochemistry and nanotechnology. A tight focus on assay validation, quality and reproducibility will be required.Main Function of PostTo create and design DNA and protein arrays for a new high throughput technology that measures protein interactions.Job Description:•Design and creation of DNA/protein arrays.•Production of protein-kinase conjugates•Optimization of array design, molecular attachment and background suppression of background binding•Production design and implementation of array manufacture.•Developing nanotether assays for the biopharmaceutical industry. The contract will be for 10 months starting 1st February 2015.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at http://www.sell2wales.gov.uk/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=21013.
