7874 Projections (working title)
Descriptions
Historic England's public programming strategy runs across three years. The first year's theme is loss and destruction. "Projections" (working title) is a distinct project within the public engagement programme for 2019, which ties in to the theme of loss and destruction. It will help Historic England to bridge the gap between arts and culture, and help the public to champion the historic environment. The overall project concept is to commission writers to produce short stories, or poems, about buildings or sites where bombing took place during the Second World War. Snippets from these stories, alongside archive images and other creative content, will be projected on the sites where bombing took place, in three major cities. A major publicity campaign by Historic England will accompany the work. Writers will need to co-create the stories during workshops with community groups, use Historic England archive images and content as inspiration for the stories, and commit to working with Historic England to promote the overall project. Stories will be made available to download by Historic England, and we may look to publish them in some way later. NB: This brief is for the written and workshop elements of the project only. All information in this brief should be treated confidentially.
