Descriptions
The Houses of the Oireachtas Service is the parliamentary administration in Ireland providing parliamentary support services to both Houses of the Oireachtas (Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann), their Members and Committees. Its mission is to serve the democratic interests of its main stakeholders, the Irish people, through: enabling the Houses, their Committees and their Members to do their parliamentary business; and meeting Members' needs as public representatives in the context of parliamentary business. The Houses of Oireachtas Commission (the Commission) is the governing board which oversees the provision of services to the Houses and their members by the Houses of the Oireachtas Service (in accordance with the Houses of the Oireachtas Commission Acts 2003 to 2018). The Oireachtas.ie website (www.oireachtas.ie) is the primary public communication vehicle for the work of Ireland’s parliament, with live streaming, debates, parliamentary questions, bills and acts, and committee documents just some of the outputs published daily during sitting periods. In addition to the extensive volume of dynamic business content produced by the parliament, i.e., parliamentary debates and legislation, significant amounts of static content are published. Static content comprises press releases, corporate governance information, committee information, historical content and educational material.
