Accommodation Services 16-24yr olds Cardiff Council
Descriptions
Cardiff Children's Services in partnership with Cardiff Housing and the Supporting People Team are looking to hold a consultation session with providers regarding their on-going Sourcing Strategy for Accommodation Provision for 16-24 year olds.Currently, placements are commissioned broadly on a spot purchased basis, and there is a separation between Children’s Services and Supporting People funding streams. The total annual spend on these services is in the region of £4.6 million per annum.Cardiff commission placements from quite a narrow supply base currently, and we are looking to gauge interest from any other providers based either in Wales or elsewhere who may be interested in hearing more from the Local Authority on the development of these services. There is a need to work innovatively with providers to deal with funding and demand pressures to create sustainable, supportive services for our young people.Using the Category Management approach, Cardiff are looking to develop an innovative solution to meet the accommodation and support needs of young people in the City, and improve collaboration between providers and other partners. We are looking to achieve a constructive relationship with providers, a clear specification focused on outcomes (and understood by all parties); one referral and assessment process for all young people, and a responsive service which ensures young people are placed and moved on appropriately. To this end, an accommodation pathway has been developed in consultation with young people, which aims to offer a strategic overview of provision and to address current gaps in provision. Furthermore, Cardiff is developing a single assessment process for young people entering the pathway, to help ensure collaborative working and information sharing between service providers. The session will involve a brief presentation of the current situation in Cardiff, and the work done to date on the Sourcing Strategy. Providers will be able to take a copy of the Accommodation Pathway away for consultation, and will be invited to contact the Authority (via Bethan Jones) to share any thoughts and ideas on how the accommodation needs of the Authority could be addressed in an efficient and effective way.The session will take place on Tuesday 25th February 2014 from 2pm-4pm in County Hall, Committee Room 3 and take the following format:•Presentation - Beth Jones•Accommodation Pathway and 10 week Programme discussion•Next Steps•Q&AIf you would like to attend the session, please contact Bethan.Jones2@Cardiff.gov.uk by 17/02/2014 to reserve a place. Please be aware that parking at County Hall is very limited - parking is available in the Red Dragon centre opposite County Hall.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at http://www.sell2wales.gov.uk/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=5804.
