The aim of adventure activities licensing is to provide assurances to the public about the safety of those activity providers who have been granted a license. The aim being that young people can enjoy exciting and stimulating activities outdoors without being exposed to avoidable risks of death or disabling injury.HSE was designated as AALA from 1.4.2007, and retained the existing operators to manage the day to day operation of the service. The current contract is due to expire in March 2020.HSE is seeking to put in place a replacement contract for a period of 3 years, commencing on 1.4.2020 to 31.3.2023, with provision to option to extend for a further period of 2 years until 31.3.2025, in annual increments, by agreement between HSE and the contractor.
