The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) wishes to obtain platforms and testing kits for the measurement of a range of allergy and hypersensitivity associated antibodies and markers. This shall include all equipment, test kits, relevant controls and calibrators, IT, peripherals, delivery, installation, training and fully comprehensive systems maintenance.The system must be automated and compatible with i-Soft or other SNBTS equivalent software systems and will be located at SNBTS premises based within the New Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.Clinical immunology processes approximately 45 000 blood samples per annum and carries out approximately 120 000 tests per annum. Within the allergy and hypersensitivity section approximately 30 000 tests per annum are carried out. These comprise total IgE (3 500 tests/annum), 'Specific Allergens (24 000 tests/annum utilising approximately 100 of the most common individual allergens), Avian Precipitins (2 000 tests/annum) and Tryptase (500 tests/annum). The testing numbers are increasing at approximately 5 % per annum and so the system must be able to cope with this for the duration of the Contract.
