Descriptions

East, South and North Ayrshire Councils require an Appropriate Adult Service for young persons/adults 365 days per annum. Incorporating the principles of empowerment and enablement at the heart of the service, whilst offering a flexible and person centred approach. All work falls under The Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003, involuntary detention of a person for the treatment of a mental disorder, or in the interest of the health and safety of the person/others, and the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 (s38), and National Care Standards.Providing a community based support, information, advice, support to people in relation to their Rights and Entitlements when in custody, or Court.— Effective communication for the young person/adult when being interviewed as a victim, witness, suspect or accused;— Appropriate legal representation sought, when required;— Offer independent an impartial advice;— Flexible service, including outwith office hours and weekends;— Confidential and effective communication;— Trained staff.
