The Munster Technological University (formally IT Tralee) has a strong history of collaboration with the Irish biotechnology industrial sector and the Shannon ABC work with a range of companies in the biotechnology, biopharma, cosmetic and nutraceutical sectors. These types of companies find specific value in the type of information that cell culture and ELISA assays can provide. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is a highly sensitive, plate-based assay technique designed for detecting and quantifying peptides, proteins, antibodies and hormones produced by mammalian cells. ELISA is one of the basic and most commonly used methods in the Shannon ABC laboratory.
