Architect-Led Design Team Consultancy Services for New Regional Sports Facility — Inverness.

The Highland Council is progressing a project for a Regional Sports Facility to serve the Highland area, to be based in Inverness. Funding has been approved to develop the design to Concept stage to allow submission of a funding application to Sports Scotland. The Council is seeking an Architect-led design team to develop Concept proposals. Subject to internal approvals and securing funding, the team will continue to complete the project.The anticipated procurement route for the construction is a single stage design and build contract at the end of RIBA Stage 3.The design team will be novated to the design and build contractor. The scope of the facility is indicated below.Please note that the Council will be appointing a Building Services Engineer via a separate procurement exercise.The project is being led by the Council's Care & Learning service, working with Highlife Highland, the arms-length Leisure Trust which operates the Council's sports and leisure facilities. Highlife Highland is working closely with Sport Scotland, national sports bodies and local clubs to develop the brief for the facility and will be a key stakeholder in the design process.The project is to provide fit for purpose regional sports facility in the west of Inverness. The facility will be built around a flagship facility of a 250 m training velodrome and the following other areas — Gymnastics Centre — Indoor Athletics Hall — Indoor 4no Tennis Court Hall — High Performance Area including Strength and Conditioning — Judo Dojo 2.5 mat area — Meeting Rooms — Changing — Foyer — Ancillary accommodation as required.This provision when taken together and integrated with the existing facilities in the immediate area of the Bught will create a performance hub for sport throughout the north of Scotland and a sports quarter for Inverness the equal of any similar provision in Scotland, the UK as whole or in Europe.Associated with the development will be the creation of new access routes to the site, both pedestrian and vehicular, and new parking and drop off.The existing leisure centre facilities are to remain operational for the duration of the contract and may pose certain logistical challenges which will require to be considered as part of the overall design solution.Note: The buyer is using PCS-Tender to carry out this procurement process.
