Assessing whether countries willing to fulfil the ambitions of UNEA

Descriptions

UN Environment Assembly Resolution 5/14 established the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to develop a legally binding instrument on plastic pollution (INC). The resolution states that the resulting treaty should be based on a comprehensive approach that addresses the full life cycle of plastics and could include provisions to promote the sustainable production and consumption of plastics.  Following the fifth negotiation meeting of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC), no agreement had been reached. This resulted in an additional meeting being added to the timeline and Defra had requested further data analysis to assist.
