Awarded
Bangor University DNA Sequencer
Descriptions
Bangor University is currently operating the Centre for Environmental Biotechnology (CEB). This project is co-funded by Bangor University and a grant from the ERDF West Wales and the Valleys Operational Programme. The CEB bioanalytical laboratory is looking to establish qualitative and quantitative metabolomic and proteomic capacity for a broad range of small molecule classes and proteomics applications. We acquired inter alia high resolution analytical mass-spectrometry instruments, high-throughput pipetting and colony-picking robotics, cell sorting instruments, fermentation bioreactors, protein purification workstations, tweezer-microdissector workstation and standard benchtop equipment for microbiology, genomics and protein studies. This procurement if for a high-throughput (up to 120 Giga bases per run), long-read (minimum 200,000 bases in a single read) benchtop DNA sequencing instrument for de novo sequencing of microbial genomes, metagenomes and PCR amplicons sequencing.
