Battery Swapping Station 2
Descriptions
As part of its decarbonisation programme, the Port of Felixstowe is replacing diesel powered equipment with autonomous electrically powered tractor units (AT). Rather than the vehicles being parked and charged, the batteries for the tractor units are swapped by a robot at a battery swapping station (supplied and installed by others), however, the battery swapping station is required to be housed inside a building to protect it from the weather.
A battery swapping station was built at the Port of Felixstowe in 2024 and this project will effectively be a copy of that design to create a second battery swapping station
