The Bedfordshire Employment and Skills Service has, subject to funding, commissioned provision which will form part of Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough Councils' response to the Government's Multiply programme for the remainder of the 2022-23 financial year and the full 2023-24 and 2024-25 financial years. Multiply is a government initiative which is providing local authorities with the funding required to target adults aged 19+ who have not attained a Level 2 or above maths qualification. The overall objective of the Multiply programme is to increase the levels of functional numeracy in the adult population across the UK with outcomes that include: More adults achieving maths qualifications through accredited courses An increase in participation in numeracy courses Improved labour market outcomes e.g.. fewer numeracy skills gaps reported by employers, and an increase in the proportion of adults that progress into sustained employment and / or education Increased adult numeracy across the population with greater confidence in everyday maths skills
