BEST Training: Water Efficiency Equipment

Descriptions

The Built Environment Sustainability Training Programme (the BEST Programme) is a collaborative programme led by the Welsh School of Architecture at Cardiff University (CU-WSA) in partnership with Asset Skills, CITB, Constructing Excellence in Wales, the Energy Saving Trust, Proskills and SummitSkills. The BEST Programme is seeking a delivery partner (or consortia of partners) to develop and deliver new training for built environment professionals in Wales aimed at increasing understanding and use of water efficiency equipment. The training will be delivered through three courses covering the following:• Water efficiency equipment: Design and Plan• Water efficiency equipment: Installation• Introduction to Smart Water MetersPromoting the efficient use of water is a central theme in the Welsh Government’s Water Strategy for Wales, currently out for consultation. Using water more efficiently helps to reduce energy use, saves money and makes good business sense. Improvements in resource efficiency are essential for green growth - improving the resilience and productivity of businesses, communities and public service organisations, reducing the impacts of consumption and production, tackling poverty and reducing greenhouse gas emissions (Water Strategy for Wales, WG)This new approach to water efficiency will drive forward demand from consumers, both domestic and commercial for increased instillation of water efficiency equipment. The research undertaken through BEST has identified that there is a current lack of knowledge and skills in the area of water efficiency technologies and that there is a need for new training on specific products. This training will enable companies and sole traders to expand the products and services they are able to offer and generate increased business.A maximum Core Grant of £50,000 is available for the development and core delivery outlined in this specification. An optional maximum Additional Grant of £12,500 is available for the additional delivery outlined in this specification.
