Blood Flow Restriction (BFR Northumbria)
Descriptions
PhD research study into Blood Flow Restriction with the University of Northumbria. This study has the following main aims and objectives: Identify what limb occlusion pressure elicits the most favourable pain inhibition response and monitor the time-course of the analgesic response so that the clinician can better manage the patients rehabilitation timetable. Identify which BFR combination elicits the most favourable pain response. Examples include passive rest, walking on a treadmill, cycling, knee-extension) Explore the cross-transfer effect of pain using BFR on the contralateral limb (for example, prescribing BFR exercise on the left limb if the injury is on the right limb). A potential rehabilitation solution for individuals with chronic pain treated at DMRC Stanford Hall.
