The services comprise of the development of a sustainability standard that covers the value chain from primary handling to processing for all sectors, and the related operational processes. This Tender is set in the context of Food Wise 2025, the report of a government appointed Agri-Food Strategy Committee, which sets out a cohesive, strategic plan for the development of the Agri-Food sector including seafood over the next decade. It outlines the key actions required to ensure that this sector maximises its contribution to economic growth and exports in an environmentally sustainable manner over the coming decade, building on the progress achieved under Food Harvest 2020. For the seafood sector this translates into three priorities:•To expand the raw material base;•To enhance the industry’s structure and skills; and•To optimise product added value, export markets and environmental sustainability.One of the key objectives of Food Wise 2025 is to further develop and enhance the effectiveness of Bord Bia’s Origin Green programme as a watermark brand and key marketing tool of the Agri-food sector’s environmental sustainability credentials. In this regard, Food Wise 2025 makes two recommendations specifically targeted at the seafood sector:•To prioritise the bringing of sustainably sourced seafood under Bord Bia’s Origin Green programme using BIM’s seafood standards and other environmental programmes as an entry point. •To adapt and enhance the existing independent third party certified standards to facilitate measurement of the environmental credentials of the seafood sector.
