The Bradwell B development is a new nuclear power station proposed for construction near Bradwell-on-Sea in Maldon, Essex. It is proposed that Bradwell B will be developed with a third-generation pressurised water reactor called UK HPR1000. The proposed B station is close to the now non-operational Bradwell A which is currently going through a programme of accelerated decommissioning.At present, the proponents of the Bradwell B NNB project are undergoing pre-application consultation to help inform decisions including but not limited to the number of reactors for the station and cooling arrangements (which may include use of cooling water). Following this, it is anticipated that the proponents of the project will seek a Development Consent Order (DCO) from the planning inspectorate as well as subsequent marine licences from the authority.
