BRAND sign Holyhead
Descriptions
The Gateway Sign uses panels of coloured stainless steel in a range of metallic-colours that echoes the BRAND suite. Coloured stainless steel is a well-tested architectural and engineering product produced in the UK for over twenty years. A well-known example is its use on Cardiff’s Wales Millennium Centre, where it forms the impressive bronze-coloured frontage with the incised lettering. The material used will be marine grade stainless steel, electro-chemically treated to create the various colours. This is a permanent treatment that alters the light reflecting off the surface to create the impression of colours, rather like a rainbow. It is not a surface coating that will change over the years. The material retains all its inherent structural and anti-corrosive properties. The coloured stainless steel panels will be set on a backing of stainless steel mesh. The mesh will be supported and held in shape on the rear by a network of Macalloy bars on mild steel trusses, all hot dipped galvanised. The tendered works include for panel manufacture, all fabrication and sign installation, with the key tasks identified as follows:1.Input panel shapes, logos and lettering from Jpeg form into CAD format for cutting, with close collaboration and development with client’s artist2.Cutting the coloured stainless steel panels for all shapes, logos, and lettering.3.Fabrication of truss anchor points and tie cable anchors.4.Install anchor points into concrete foundation pads provided by IoACC – see notes below.5.Fabrication of trusses and related support elements, including within the area in which the banner returns on itself (the low end).6.Fabrication of banner mesh, forming it into three dimensional curves as per CAD model supplied with tender package.7.Dry-run assembly of all panels onto mesh. Allow for bending of panels to curve of mesh.8.Include for final design of detailed connections of all fixings and for fine-tuning of all elements of this complex structure.9.Fabricate anti-climb mesh panels to trusses and elsewhere as indicated.10.Deliver to site as a kit of components.11.Install all trusses, steelwork, mesh, panels, etc – see notes below.N.B Groundworks, concrete foundations, and traffic Management will be provided by IoACC Term Contractor – they can also supply equipment for lifts etc. The two contractors would need to liaise on method statements for erection and installationNOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at http://www.sell2wales.gov.uk/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=5771.
