Descriptions

*NB: This Is An Award Notice, This Contract Has Been Awarded*Description below is from original OJEU advert (2014/S 241-423615):The Bristol Centre for Synthetic Biology (BrisSynBio, http://www.bristol.ac.uk/brissynbio) wishes to acquire a dedicated High Performance Computer (HPC) system for life-sciences/synthetic biology applications that will complement and may be loosely integrated with the existing University of Bristol BlueCrystal Phase3 HPC system (https://www.acrc.bris.ac.uk/acrc/phase3.htm).The sum of GBP 260 000 excl. VAT is available to acquire the BrisSynBio HPC system. We require that the BrisSynBio HPC System be a heterogeneous cluster with elements to provide:— GPU-like accelerator capability supporting both CUDA and OpenCL-based applications.— High performance MPI capability.— High performance disk capability.— High availability.— All equipment must fit into the University's APC InfrastruXureTM hot aisle containment systems. We envisage that the ideal solution for the BrisSynBio HPC System will have elements toprovide:— A 64-bit architecture.— Either a redundant set of combined management/login nodes, or a set of redundant management nodes and a set of redundant login nodes.— The management/login nodes will be fault tolerant and resilient.— A minimum of 600 x86 cores in the compute nodes.— A minimum of 8 GPU accelerator cards capable of running applications based on CUDA andOpenCL.— Gigabit Ethernet or more for the internal administration network and the default cluster interconnect.— A high performance, low-latency interconnect for MPI traffic and I/O.— A minimum of 40 TB of usable disk storage.— A scalable storage subsystem suitable for a large HPC cluster that >> is fast, robust, resilient, highly available, easy to maintain and that may provide options for integrating with the existing Panasas storage solution used on Bluecrystal Phase3.— Scientific Linux OS.— Cluster management software.— User job management software with resource usage reporting capabilities.— Appropriate compilers and libraries.— All supplied software to be licensed for at least 3 years.— 3 years maintenance on all hardware and software components starting from day of acceptance.— Options for a 4th year maintenance extension for the management/login nodes, networking and storage infrastructure.
