Advert for Business Continuity SolutionHigher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) T03HE/2011/12The Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) is sponsored by the Welsh Government and acts as an intermediary body between the Welsh Government and the higher education sector in Wales. HEFCW is responsible for funding higher education (HE) in Wales, distributing funds for education, research and related activities to Welsh higher education institutions. HEFCW also provides advice to the Welsh Government on the funding needs, aspirations and concerns of the higher education sector. Further information about HEFCW is available on the website at www.hefcw.ac.uk. HEFCW is required by the Welsh Government to have a business continuity strategy and as such has developed a Business Continuity Management Policy which requires recovery plans for business critical activities and functions to be stored offsite in a secure location, accessible to all HEFCW employees via the internet.The business continuity solution must also be: user friendly; allow critical documents and contact details to be stored; send automatic reminders to plan owners to review plans and documents; allow HEFCW to communicate with its employees; and be available 24/7 365 days a year. The business continuity solution provider will be required to provide training for nominated employees and assist these employees with the initial setup. There must also be ongoing support available through the lifetime of the contract which is most likely provided through an on-line or phone helpdesk system.HEFCW’s currently uses Shadow-Planner, now owned by ICM. This contract will end on 29 March 2012 so it is anticipated that the new contract will commence before this date to allow for the new solution to be set up. The initial contract will be for a period of three years, with the option to extend annually for a further three years (i.e. up to a maximum of six years in total).
