Awarded
13C Isotope Ratio Analysis Facility.
Descriptions
The University of Aberdeen's soil biogeochemistry laboratory has purchased a 13C isotope-ratio analysis facility. The facility requires 2 analysers; 1 to be deployed in a standard University laboratory and the other in a mobile laboratory. The analysers should be capable of measuring concentrations of CO2 and CH4 and the d13C signatures of gases emitted from the surface of soils. In addition, they should be capable of measuring the 13C isotope ratios and total C concentrations of solid samples (soils, plants), liquids and small gas volumes. They should also be able to be fully integrated into commercially-available automated multiplexed soil gas chambers to permit measurement of isotope ratios in soil gases. 1 of the analysers must have capacity to be integrated into a mobile laboratory, which has limited bench space available (1.5m x 0.7m deep). 1 analyser should also have its own dedicated multiplexor to be able to analyse 16 channels in a closed loop.
