Caerphilly Silt Trap Maintenance and Banl Stabilisation Works
Descriptions
Cadw is the Welsh Government’s Historic Environment service working for an accessible and well-protected historic environment for Wales. Cadw works to conserve and protect the historic environment and to promote distinctive regeneration and sustainable development through heritage. Cadw have a requirement to appoint an experienced and qualified contractor to deliver the maintenance of the moat and bank stabilisation works at Caerphilly castle. The silt trap at the inlet to the moat has become full, allowing silt to pass into the moat itself. The required works involves excavating out accumulated material from the silt trap down to it’s base profile in order for the silt trap to resume functioning effectively. Additional dredging is to be carried out of the accumulated silt in the moat immediately downstream of the silt trap to leave a nominal depth of 1 metre of water. A section of the bank moat adjoining the silt trap is severely eroded and is to be restored to its previous profile and strengthened with gabions and coir rolls. Further particulars of the project can be found in the full project brief included within the Specification included in the tender pack.NOTE: The authority is using eTenderwales to carry out this procurement process.
