Carbon Footprint Analysis and Net Zero Action Plan for three MRC Units

Descriptions

For three MRC Units in the Universities of Dundee, Edinburgh, and Cambridge, analyse the carbon footprint and produce a science-based action plan, which would align with the 1.5°C limit in global temperature rise and allow the MRC units to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040 (as required by UKRI). The analysis would first be carried out at the MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit at the University of Dundee (200 people in one building that is part of the School of Life Sciences). Subsequent work would be carried out at the MRC Human Genetics Unit in the University of Edinburgh (~260 people in three connected buildings at Institute of Genetics and Cancer, Western General Hospital Site) and the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit in the University of Cambridge (~125 people in one building that is shared with another institute at the Addenbrookes Hospital Site) In each case, a local contact based in the MRC Unit would work with the chosen service provider, to help source and organise the required data.
