Cardiff Flying Start Childcare Provision 2018

The County Council of the City & County of Cardiff's Flying Start Team wish to invite potential and current providers to a workshop to consult on the service requirements for childcare and to discuss the proposed procurement process for a range of childcare places in several geographic locations.Attendees will be briefed on the potential process that will be used to commission services. This event is not restricted to those currently providing childcare services in Cardiff. Please note that non-attendance will not preclude participation in any resultant procurement process.Flying Start is the Welsh Government's flagship early years' programme for families with children under four-years of age and is targeted in some of the most deprived areas in Wales. It has been in place since 2006/07.The Cardiff programme is the largest in Wales, representing approximately 25% of the 0-3 population. The Flying Start grant for 2018/19 is currently £10.1 million to deliver a range of services to eligible families. The primary focus of the programme is to improve the life chances of very young children through the delivery of four core elements;1. Quality part-time childcare for all 2-3 year olds in Flying Start areas (12.5 hours per week for 39 weeks of the year)2. Enhanced Health Visiting with 1:110 caseloads3. Parenting programmes and support4.
