Cell Disruptor for Swansea University’s ESRI Bay Campus RICE Project

Descriptions

To assist in the release of certain biological molecules from inside the algae cells, which is essential in the downstream harvesting process for high protein recovery from the algae species. The project is being funded by WEFO monies and Swansea University is seeking a real and substantial in-kind contribution from suppliers. We are looking for an instrument capable of processing a range of volumes up to 100 Litres of algae, with a time frame of around 6 hours (20L/2hrs). The disruptor must be sufficient to release the proteins and pigments from algae cells at high throughputs, under constant temperature. It must have a small footprint as we are limited for space (around 2mx1m or less), as well as being reliable and easy to use for repeated use; the systems require to be easily cleaned/able to withstand an autoclave process for sterility.NOTE: The authority is using eTenderwales to carry out this procurement process.
