Farming Connect requires a Chartered Civil Engineer or Structural Engineer.Farming Connect provides farm and forestry businesses in Wales with one to one support, advice, guidance and training. Farming Connect is delivered by Menter a Busnes and is funded through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013, which is financed by the Welsh Government and the European Union.Farming Connect in partnership with ADAS Cymru and Natural Resource Wales are planning to deliver a series of three evening workshops across Wales to raise awareness with farmers when employing, engineers and building contractors to construct facilities requiring The Water Resources (Control of Pollution) (Silage, Slurry and Agricultural Fuel Oil) (Wales) Regulations 2010. These regulations are better known as the SSAFO regulations and set minimum design and construction standards for slurry and silage stores (British Standard BS5502).The workshops will provide information on the current regulatory requirements of new slurry and silage stores and the importance of having the stores designed and constructed to the required standards. This will help reduce the environmental and financial risk associated with poorly constructed stores and help prevent structural failure.Farming Connect is therefore seeking a Chartered Civil Engineer or Structural Engineer to provide a presentation on the design and construction standards of slurry and silage stores to meet British Standard BS5502 Part 50 1993, BS5502 Part 21 1990 and BS8007:1987(1).The candidate must have experience in the design and construction of slurry and silage storage systems. Have knowledge of the CIRIA guidance (126) Farm waste storage: guidelines for construction. Be able to produce a presentation to explain these design and construction standards. The candidate must also be confident to deliver a presentation in front of large audiences.The suitable candidate will be offered 2 days preparatory work to produce a presentation no longer than 1 hour long on the design and construction standards for slurry and silage stores. The candidate will be required to deliver this presentation and answer audience questions at three evening workshops in South West Wales, South East Wales and North Wales.
