As a result of the Covid pandemic and mass working form home, additional demand on services, the existing firewalls are not able to fulfil and meet the requirements. There is a significant risk of failure and impact on Council services. The existing firewalls are providing connectivity to 2 300 employees daily, including contact centres and emergency response centres are at capacity in terms of operating at 100 % for the vast majority of the time. The cost of moving to an alternative firewall supplier is cost prohibitive and not practical in the current situation.
