Since 2016, Sligo BID has added to the festive dressing of the BID area each year. The much-improved lighting has received such positive feedback from business owners, residents, and visitors to Sligo. From a starting point in 2016 of seven 15 yr old frames, Sligo BID now installs over 40 Christmas Frames and manages and maintains over 40,000 fairy and cluster lights. The annual switch on event has grown from a few dozen attendees to several thousand. The event was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic and we look forward to a post Covid safe event in December 2021. This proposal is for the replacement of frames on Castle St and Grattan St and to add cluster tree lighting to the now mature trees at the entrance to Wine St and 7 trees at the roundabout at Carrowroe (with one colour changing installation in the centre tree).
