CivTech 5 Challenge 8 — How Can Digital and IoT Help the Management of Infection Control in Caring Environments so that they become Safer for Everyone Who Lives, Works and Visits in Them?

Descriptions

Eildon Housing Association is a leading care provider based in the south east of Scotland. Our care settings are residential-based and in-the-community, many of our customers are vulnerable and have been regarded as at risk and/or shielded during the Covid-19 crisis. Infection control is vital to housing associations, as is the prevention of community transmission – and these will not go away once the first wave of Covid-19 subsides. In addition to our existing locations, we are expanding our services into new, purpose built locations with modern infrastructure and ICT. Across both existing locations and new-builds, we want to offer maximum safety and reassurance for our customers, their family members, our staff, other professionals across health and social care, and visiting members of the wider public. One way we can do this is to exploit the potential of the IoT Scotland LoRaWAN installed across our locations. Automated real-time data and analysis has the potential to provide a powerful and precise platform for infection control management, and to markedly improve every aspect of what we do. So how can Internet of Things (IoT) and tech make our homes safer to live and work in?
