Clinical Blood Science laboratories have been retained at the Kingston and Croydon hospital sites to ensure that essential clinical services such as A&E, theatres and obstetrics continue to receive the same level of pathology support. It also enables local knowledge and clinical expertise to be retained within each Trust, but the whole partnership benefits from the larger scale and improved technology that can be provided through the establishment of a ‘hub' laboratory.Solutions provided must ensure that the service is compliant with all accreditation and mandatory requirements such as UKAS and Blood Safety and Quality regulationsPlease note that the named Trusts above are those at present part of SWL Pathology. Other organisations may join during the lifetime of the contract. At present St George's Healthcare NHS Trust is hosting the project and it is envisaged that this will not change during the contractThere are 5 lots being tendered— Lot1: Haematology and CoagulationTo include: Blood Count analysers, Coagulation analysers, ESR analysers, Viscosity analysers, Hb Variant testing analysers, Slidemaker/stainers, Digital Morphology (which could be subject to digital image transfer across the three sites) , staining machines, sample sorting/archiving solutions, automated sample handling.— Lot 2: Chemistry and Immunoassay (plus MES Management as Primary Contractor)To include: Biochemistry Analysers, Immunoassay analysers, centrifugation, aliquoting, sample sorting/archiving solutions, automated sample handling. This bidder will be the Primary Contractor for the Managed Equipment Service, and will also manage all interfaces to the LIMS— Lot 3: Serology (Infectious Diseases)To include: Serology (infectious diseases immunoassays) -tracked, Confirmatory Serology (alternative platforms using alternative assays required tracked or not tracked) additional specialist Serology (tracked or not tracked)— Lot 4: Blood TransfusionTo include: Blood Grouping, Antibody screening, cross-matching, antibody investigation (panels). Direct antiglobulin test and Rh phenotyping, supply and management of cold chain equipment.— Lot 5: Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass SpectrometerTo: include Tandem Mass Spectrophotometer nitrogen generation, pre-analytical automation for sample preparation
