CM0001 - Cheltenham & Gloucester Asylum Seeker Support Services
Descriptions
The UK has a legal obligation to provide protection to individuals who flee persecution. This is managed through the asylum system. The Home Office is responsible for setting national asylum policies. Cheltenham Borough Council and Gloucester City Council are seeking advice and support services for asylum seekers to deliver the following key principles. The Service is to be designed around the following principles: 1. Tailoring support according to the specific needs of the individual. 2. Building resilience and independence in every intervention and undertaking a strengths-based outcome driven approach to support planning. 3. Being both person-centred and trauma-informed; building on an individual’s existing strengths and talents to increase wellbeing, empowerment and resilience. 4. Enhancing the ability of mainstream services to support asylum seekers rather than duplicating services or adding additional pressure.
