CNH Project Evaluation
Descriptions
In recent years, nanotechnology has been closely linked with applications in almost every industry.Future healthcare will be underpinned by new technologies which permit early disease intervention, new diagnostics and treatments in non-hospital environments including the doctor’s surgery, community clinic or home. Similarly, early intervention relies on the earliest possible disease detection and treatment through the use of therapeutic devices and agents, sensors, diagnostics and other applications. The Centre for NanoHealth (CNH) project at Swansea University combines nanotechnology with medical science to provide opportunities to benefit patients, healthcare providers and the healthcare industry across Wales and globally. The CNH vision is to create a unique, globally significant, sustainable infrastructure in Wales from which the application of Nanotechnology to Healthcare will be delivered through a Research and Development pipeline, and in doing so will underpin the development of the skilled people required for Wales to realise its potential in this emerging $Trillion sector.CNH will bring together Clinicians, Life Scientists and Engineers in a single location where they will work closely with business to deliver innovations in healthcare. CNH will be a multidisciplinary environment integrating specialist facilities for nano-fabrication, nano-characterisation, and biomedical development, coupled with the added benefit of business incubation space. The project aims to utilise Convergence funding to promote the development of new healthcare technologies from initial concept to the point where they can be deployed commercially. The CNH project is now required to undergo an evaluation to assess its impact. The project evaluation is required in 2-phases: i) a mid-term evaluation to be completed by Feb 2012; and ii) a final evaluation to be completed towards the end of 2014. Due to the time constraint for completion of the mid-term evaluation, it is essential that applicants can commit sufficient resource during Jan/Feb 2012 to meet this deadline. Applicants will be required to provide confirmation of their availability as part of their tender response. Swansea University is therefore seeking a professional company/organisation with previous demonstrable experience in conducting evaluations of similar projects, in particular ERDF projects, that is capable of working to tight timescales.
