Collection, transportation and processing of mixed wood waste.

Descriptions

The Council is seeking to procure a Service for the collection, transportation, processing and treatment of approximately 5,800 tonnes per annum of municipal mixed wood waste grades A – C. The wood mix is sourced mainly from the Council's Household Waste Recycling Centres and Bulky Waste Household Collections, although there is a small amount from commercial and other sources.The reprocessing is required to maximise the diversion from landfill of the various elements of the wood mix and if suitable the associated contrary material into beneficial products with recycling being prioritised over other treatments in accordance with the waste hierarchy.Collection and transportation will take place from the Council's facility at Chelson Meadow, Plymstock, Plymouth PL9 7JA (Wood Waste from all sources is transferred to this facility).Under this contract the contractor and their supply chain will be required to actively participate in the achievement of the Contracting Authority's social/economic/environmental objectives. Accordingly, contract documents may relate to social/economic/environmental considerationsSuppliers are invited to undertake a site visit to fully understand the storage capacity and operational areas of the Chelson Meadow facility.
