Colwyn Bay Waterfront Project - Watersports Hotspot

The Watersports Hotspot comprises the next phase of works on the Colwyn Bay Waterfront Project, a major project intended to provide enhanced coastal protection and improved promenade for the town of Colwyn Bay, North Wales.The Watersports Hotspot element of the project comprises construction of a new circa 1000m2, single storey, Watersports Centre as well as all landscape works on the new hotspot. The building is inteded to be constructed from a steel frame with proprietary precast concrete slabs with bonded structural screed. The building envelope is to comprise three main elements, those being glazed curtain walling, timber and zinc rainscreen cladding. The interior finishes are to be hard wearing to reflect the proximity to the sea.The building must achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, therefore measures such as vertical axis wind turbines and a Combined Heat and Power unit have been incorporated.The Watersports Hotspot will be constructed over the Phase 1a Engineering Works, which are currently underway on site, which are intended to provide the enhanced coastal protection required for the area as well as create the balnk canvas required to facilitate construction of the hotspot.
