Forestry Commission Wales is inviting Expressions of Interest in a commercial opportunity available at Coed y Brenin Forest Park, near Dolgellau, Gwynedd.We are seeking a business partner to help develop the cycling opportunities on offer at Coed y Brenin Forest Park including the rental of 160m2 commercial outlet designed to meet the need for a high quality cycle retail, hire and maintenance enterprise. The partner will assist Forestry Commission Wales (soon to become Natural Resources Wales) in the delivery of the Welsh Government’s Strategy for Woodlands for Wales especially with regard to the following elements: •More Communities benefiting from Woodlands and Trees •More people enjoying the life-long learning benefits of woodlands •More people living healthier lives as a result of their use and enjoyment of woodlands •More people benefiting from woodland related enterprises It is expected that the successful bidder will help deliver on these objectives not only by developing a high quality commercial outlet for cycle hire but also through the provision of activities such as events, coaching, training and cycling taster session in a manner that will help grow the market and enable a greater representation of the wider community to enjoy the benefits of cycling at Coed y Brenin. We are seeking a partner to continue to develop the mountain biking opportunities based at the new building at Coed Y Brenin Visitor Centre. The partner will be expected to offer:-•Retail bikes, accessories and trail consumables.•Bike hire•MTB tuition, taster sessions and guiding services•Events•Marketing activities both locally and nationally•Outreach activities with businesses, cycle groups, schools•Site related information provisionBidders are strongly recommended to attend a site visit and Bidder Briefing day so that they can complete their submission. A site visit and Bidder briefing day will take place on Friday 8th March 2013.Our intention is to award a lease for a period of 7 years. The anticipated start date is 01/09/2013
