Newport City Council is to apply to the Welsh Government to decriminalise parking enforcement within the Newport City Council area. This will have the effect of the Council enforcing waiting and parking restrictions which are currently the responsibility of the Police.Newport City Council will be looking to introduce CPE and this review is necessary to comply with the requirements of the Application, to the Welsh Government, for the transfer of parking enforcement powers under CPE.Newport City Council has Parkmap as their current mapped based system for the TROs. The corporate GIS system is Mapinfo in conjunction with OS mastermap. Newport City Council require their current restrictions to be mapped on to Mapinfo/ Parkmap so, they can be included as the schedules to any new TRO.NOTE: The authority is using eTenderwales to carry out this procurement process.
