Conservation of the Paintings — Painted Hall Phase 2.
Descriptions
The Greenwich Foundation for the Old Royal Naval College now wishes to appoint a conservator for conservation of the paintings as part of the Painted Hall HLF Phase 2 programme. Specifically the highly skilled cleaning and conservation of the remaining 3 400 m2 of painted surfaces following completion of the Phase 1 works, i.e. the remaining areas of painted walls in the Upper Painted Hall; the elaborate carved and painted heraldic proscenium dividing the Upper and Lower Painted Halls; the extraordinary painted ceiling in the Lower Painted Hall and its painted walls and window reveals; the fictive-painted colonnade between the Lower Hall and Grand Vestibule; and the painted walls, benefactor boards, arches and transepts, carved and painted broaches, and surfaces of the glazed tambour, the dome and its garter-insignia hatch.The construction budget is in the region of 1 000 000 GBP.
