Proposal•The scheme aims to utilise the existing set of buildings to the East of Pembroke Castle. There are presently 3 derelict buildings in very poor state of repair and some are structurally unsound. They have been subject to vandalism.•The proposal is to replace (on a like for like) basis all existing windows and external doors on all storeys. The external render is to be hacked off and replaced with new lime render being used on the listed buildings, and then decorated. The water goods shall be replaced restored and any upvc water goods replaced with cast iron or similar. New Lighting and ventilation will be introduced to all these spaces to ensure a healthy and pleasing environment is created, all these areas will receive new insulation upgrades, roofing structures and decoration. Decoration colour is likely to be pastel colours. However final colour/s choice shall be submitted to the LPA for approval. The existing metal fire escape steps have been proposed to be replaced on a like for like basis, the roofs of all the proposed buildings within the development will have their coverings removed, for the inspection and repair of the roof timbers, with new breathable membrane and battens fixed over. Any existing welsh slate shall be reused on the buildings with any damaged or composite slates being replaced with natural welsh slate. All existing chimneys are to be inspected and repaired, with lead trays fitted if required. A new chimney will be reinstated to the eastern gable end of property 4 to create a more balanced and historically accurate view of the building. The existing metal railings are to have the paint stripped off them, repaired, repainted and put back.•Each unit will be self-contained; all will include suitable space for living areas and kitchens separated from bedrooms and bathrooms with storage areas utilised wherever possible. Each unit has been designed to take full advantage of the space available. •The end scheme will create 3 shop/retail areas, 3 one bedroom flats, 8 two bedroom flats, one HMO units [with five bedrooms]•The former hotel/club and surgery buildings are sensitively restored and undergo modifications to create a mixed use development. •The ground floors of the three main buildings on Westgate are renovated to form retail units, with storage and well-presented entrances. The existing steps and railings shall be preserved.•To the rear of these units, whilst preserving the present configuration, we have formed residential spaces. The upper storeys and lower basement storeys are also utilised for residential purposes, providing a mixture of different density flats and HMO’s •The old surgery is turned into a five bedroom HMO with shared welfare facilities.
