Awarded
Contract for the delivery of a Post Graduate Masters Degree in Health Policy.
Descriptions
In 2011 the Department of Health (‘the Authority’) tendered for a three year contract for the provision of a postgraduate qualification in Health Policy. The first cohort have now completed the two-year part time MSc in Health Policy. The second and third cohorts have commenced their studies. This course has helped develop deep subject expertise in a group of Policy Officials through a recognised qualification. The Authority is re-tendering the MSc to provide a postgraduate qualification for three cohorts, with the possibility of extending the contract, up to a maximum of five cohorts and will be encouraging its Arm's Length Bodies (ALBs) and Health counterparts in other Government Departments and Devolved Administrations to nominate participants as a way of creating a broader health policy network. The Authority is making funding available for 20-30 staff a year to undertake a part-time Masters in Health Policy. The Authority wants to offer talented staff the opportunity to study for a Masters as a way of strengthening policy making in the Authority. The intention is to ensure that in the future the Authority has sufficient numbers of talented policy makers to become capable senior civil servants. This offer will be open to permanent staff at all grades, but targeted at new Grade 7 policy officials.
