Somerset County Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced highways construction contractors for the execution of highway works in the town of Yeovil, Somerset.The contract requires the construction of a series of five junction improvements along the western side of Yeovil between Thorne Lane and Lysander Road, together with the upgrading of 350 m of footpath to a cycleway and provision of 500 m of new foot-way.Three of the junction improvements take the form of signalisation of existing roundabouts, one further junction improvement is the replacement of a roundabout with a signalised junction and the remaining junction improvement involves the creation of a signalised junction to replace an existing priority junction.Works associated with the project will also include the construction of retaining walls, and alterations to Statutory Undertaker's apparatus.Under this contract the contractor and its supply chain will be required to actively participate in the achievement of social objectives relating to participation in skills development, employment and training programmes and other added value contributions by the contractor and its supply chain in order to support community programmes promoted by Somerset County Council. Accordingly the contract performance conditions may relate in particular to secondary considerations.
