Control System Intergration - Stage 1
Descriptions
Crossflow Energy Ltd is developing a new (Pre-Production Prototype or ‘Triple P’) variable speed wind turbine as part of a fully integrated 7kW system to provide reliable, cost efficient power in areas where mains electricity is either unreliable or unavailable. The Turbine is to be coupled with Solar PV and batteries to enable a guaranteed power supply to the load. The PPP Turbine is expected to provide safe control and operation for varying wind speeds and direction. To achieve this, various control loops are required, with specialised instrumentation and control outputs. The PPP’s core design should enable stable control of output power to a DC bus, inclusive of a battery system, solar PV and a small diesel generator (if needed).A key design feature of the PPP turbine is it depends on an active control system to ensure its efficient and safe operation. There are various issues that needs to be considered to develop this design, and this specification guides the team on how to approach and decide on these.Personnel accessing the PPP for maintenance depends on the ICSS (Integrated Control and Safety Systems) to help protect them from various hazards, hence the ICSS should be designed with the appropriate level of integrity and reliability. Please reference attached document 0001-CRO-04-RFQ-0001 rev 0
