Potential companies are asked to produce a layout plan and quotation for the design, manufacture, supply delivery and installation of Conwy Castle Visitor Centre. The design philosophy should be based upon a neutral modern approach using natural materials. The design must follow the latest in environmentally-friendly building processes using sustainable materials and sources and sit in harmony with its location and purpose.Customer service areas - need to be designed to accommodate wheelchair users, pushchair users and children - height of fittings and depth of counters for service is critical in this respect. Wall displays, cabinets and shelving should be fixed wherever possible whereas shop-floor displays must be movable. A mix of shop fittings will be required - all should be capable of adjustment to allow flexibility of display.From the Expressions of Interest received 3 companies will be selected to complete the competitive design tender stage.1.Each of the 3 companies will be paid £1,000 to produce within their tender an outline design for the ‘Flagship’ Conwy Castle Visitor Centre.2.The winning company will receive a further £2,000 and be awarded the contract to develop the design, build and installation contract.3.Upon the award of contract copyright in the ‘Flagship’ design will be assigned in writing to Cadw under the terms of The Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988, as amended.(Please see attached Retail Design Brief for further details)The awarding Authority reserves the right to request parent companyand/or other guarantees of performance and financial liabilityPayment terms will be indicated in the contract documents. Tenders to bepriced in Sterling.
