Temporary works designer requirementTo produce F002/F003 calculations of ground conditions to allow the procurement of contract crane lifts (CCL)The scope will include the undertaking of any Ground Investigation required for the CCL such as plate bearing tests and boreholes if required. All plant to be supplied by the Temporary works designer.Also Temporary works design and production of F002/F003 calcs forLight weight GRP trench shoring up to 2m deepTemporary works design would also be required for small scale shoring of embankments and assessments of ground conditions for short term excavations.Contract Crane liftsContract company required to undertake all aspects of crane lift.This will include providing a competent APLO, crane supervisor and or crane controller along with a competent operator; ensure there is a robust lifting plan in place covering the SSoW and that the lifting equipment is suitable and capable. The SSoW and associated documents must be reviewed by a SMO RI APLO prior to the lifting operation. This will identify any risks which may be present over and above those normally established as part of any contract lift e.g. rail operations issues.The contractors APLO and Banksman/Slinger etc. MUST have full access to the entire lift site to enable them to supervise operations properly. If on the rail infrastructure this may involve the provision of a Track Visitors Permit (TVP) and should be considered during the planning stage.All personnel involved in the lift (i.e. Crane Operator, AP, COSS trackside/site personnel) should participate in a single, joint brief to explain the work, arrangements, and responsibilities during the lift.In order to fulfil responsibilities when placing contracts for contract lifts, the contract should:• Ensure that all work is to be undertaken as contract lift in accordance with BS7121-1:2016 and BS7121-3:2017• Specify that the contractor is to supply the APLO• Clearly define the task and also what information or services will be provided to the contractor• Give the contractor full authority to work in accordance with BS7121-1:2016 and BS7121-3:2017 and (where appropriate) the authority to control and instruct SMO RI personnel• Include indemnity insurance requirementsCrane sizes up to 100tonnes.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=112152.
